I found this this toy tonight and decided I just HAD to have it haha! Although I haven't ordered it yet, I probably will order it tomorrow. I couldn't resist the cuteness of it. Also I have a hook in my ceiling where a light used to hang years and years ago and I thought it might be fun to hang this toy from the ceiling with a string or from a doorknob!
So, I've had a package with my busted litter box sitting in my drive way with a giant note on it for FedEx to pick up. They are supposed to pick it up today and take it back to Petco but FedEx hasn't arrived yet. Of course yesterday they didn't get here until like 5:30 so maybe that's the case today too. Oh, I forgot to mention that Raimei turned 6 weeks old yesterday. Now my big debate is what size harness to buy. There is a 9-14 inch expandable harness and a 12-20 inch expandable harness, so I don't' know which one would be better.
I called the vet today and had to ask the dreaded question...the cost of neutering...Raimei will not be happy with me about that haha! I was really happy to hear that it's only $38.00. I want to do it early, maybe when he's 4 months old and i really really hope it doesn't alter his disposition.
OMG! I'm so excited! My first order form Petco arrived today! I also got my litter box but it isn't in the picture because it arrived busted so I have to send it back to Petco for a replacement. I'm expecting another shipment from Petco (a smaller one) in a few days, so I'll photograph that too!!! My blanket that matches the pillow in the background was too big to fit in the picture. My grandma made me that pillow when I was a freshman in college at Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia so it's special to me and now Raimei gets it! So anyway, here everything is! I LOVE the cheese chase it's soooooo cute! Hope all the labels are readable. You can click on the picture to make it huge!
Have a look at the Paws and Purrs site to see that now all my information has been entered. Raimei's birthday by the way was December 19, 2007! By the way new pictures of stuff coming this weekend! My order is being delivered tomorrow from Petco! * I think it's tomorrow!
Okay, so after staying up late last night and watching my eBay auction (which was a stupid idea since I have to get up at 6:00 AM every morning for work). I discovered that...I lost the auction. Yes I was mad at the high bidder. So anyway, this is finally THE pet carrier I will be getting without a doubt. I ordered it only a few minutes ago and it will be delivered February 5! It's just like the blue carrier I posted earlier, only I decided to buy the orange one instead. I'm thinking about trying to find a matching ID tag to put on the top of it. I think I'll also try to coordinate the leash and harness with the carrier. Yes, that is dork...I know...it's fun lol!
I found out today also that half of my order from Petco shipped out today! So, I'm hoping that I get it by the end of the week, that way I can take pictures of everything I have so far for my spoiled Raimei haha! Since I'm in Ohio and the order is shipping form Illinois, it shouldn't' be too long. The other half o my order is still being processed. So anyway, here is the pet carrier and I can't wait to get it! The overall deminions are 23 inches long, 11 inches tall and 11 and 1/2 inches wide. I really hope that's big enough as Raimei grows.
Today I was off work sick. Just a sinus infection though, nothing contagious. Even though I did lots of sleeping today I still managed to compulsively check eBay to see if I'm still winning the auction for the Sherpa pet carrier. I am so I've really happy about that. Of course there are still 6 hours left in the auction and I have a college class to go to tonight and suffer with my stopped up head through. Hmmmm...I could stay home and watch the auction since there isn't an attendance policy but I'll probably end up going and suffering through the notes that the professor talks too fast through. Oh and I'll probably be making notes of things I need to do here at the house to get ready for Raimei.
Today I accomplished lots of shopping for Raimei! I decided that it would save more money if I simply ordered most everything I needed from Petco online. I got free shipping as well a many many web only discounts! I was very excited about that. The only things that I have yet to purchase are food, litter, cat treats, a harness and leash, and a carrier. I'm close to getting outbid on eBay for the carrier I want so I'll just have to wait and see what happens there. If I do get outbid, I'll have to look for another carrier which is fine, I just want to find the best price.
I will be posting pictures soon of everything I've purchased for him. I'll start with the pillow and blanket I FINALLY found in my basement. They have both been washed and dried so they are ready to curl up in!
Okay, I'm thinking the title of this post says it all LOL! I heard back from my breeder just an hour ago and....the kitten is mine!!! So, without further waiting I present to everyone PPC's Raimei o Yoinokuchi
Of course I will be calling him Raimei. By the way, he's the very first kitten on the page. Raimei is a traditional Doll Faced Persian. That means that he is bred the way Persian cats were bred in the 1960's with a more pronounced nose than the show cats that many other breeders choose to work with. As of today he is about 5 weeks old and so he won't be ready to go until about March...even though March will come quicker than we can imagine, I will still be counting the days! If I can set up a countdown here on my blog page I will totally do that. Also, I will be posting TONS of pictures of him once he arrives home. And the best part...I finally get to upload YouTube videos of little Raimei!!!!! In the meantime I'll be documenting the shopping process...which I can't wait for! And I'll be documenting his first area that he will be introduced to when I bring him home.
Now behind the name Raimei o Yoinokuchi. I chose this name for several reasons. First, he is a blue tabby male, so I wanted something that flowed smoothly and gracefully as a registered name and also reflected masculine brilliance that I see in him as an adult cat. Second, it was very important to me that his name be Japanese for many reasons. I really wanted to pull something from the anime Naruto and so that's where the name Sasori came from for a flame point Himalayan (since the flame point cat is a red head!! LOL!). Now, for the blue tabby that I am ACTUALLY getting...I wanted a name that had something to do with night time, or clouds or something at dusk. So, Raimei o Koinoyuchi 'Thunder at Nightfall' (oh, and Sachie please correct me if I miss used o haha!) I decided was a beautiful and peaceful name.....exactly what I desired for him. This is a very exciting day today. So for right now...I'm off to look for the blanket I've been searching for and tearing the house upside down half the day trying to locate.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well last night I spent a while cleaning up this old make up carrier of mine. I had forgotten how much abuse I put it through haha! It survived 3 years of ballet competitions and recitals and 4 years of college and it showed! But like an idiot, I pulled out this cleaner from underneath my sink to clean it and after I had sprayed the thing down I thought to myself "Wow this stuff smells really strong, it doesn't smell like multi-surface cleaner." So then I look at the bottle and it says Lysol tub and tile cleaner...smooth move... Anyway, I proceeded to clean it but the stuff smelled so horrible that I cleaned it again with disinfectant wipes and then wiped it down with a wet washcloth and FINALLY dried it. Of course I somehow managed to inhale the fumes and I gave myself a sore throat today.
After all that, I set it outside in my hallway open to air out. it no longer smells like harsh cleaners but believe it or not after all that...I can still smell the faint smell of makeup inside it! So now I'm debating on whether or not I can even use this to store things for kitty. If I have any doubts I definitely won't use it.
Now in other news. Still no word from my breeder. I'm hoping so much to hear from her today. But if I don't, I understand. The auction for my carrier ends in three says, I'm excited about that. Except, I panicked yesterday because I realized that I have 2 blankets that I had designated as cat blankets packed away somewhere in my basement. I'm going to need to find those because it would save me some money a designated cat bed. The major task is going to be finding the box...that could be an adventure within itself since there is such much stuff packed away in my basement.
It's right now 6:42 pm as I'm writing this. Still no word from my breeder. I was supposed to perhaps hear from her at some point today after 3:00. Perhaps I'll get an e-mail from her later tonight. I think I'm jsut anxious to get an answer from her haha! I got my little cat dental chew ring in the mail today. So now, I can add that to my tiny collection of stuff. The auction for the carrier on eBay ends in three days. I hope that I am the high bidder for that because it's a good price.
I found my old makeup carrier, one of those Caboodle cases that were way popular in the early 90's. I discovered it would be perfect for cat accessories, combs, brushes, toys, catnip, anything small. I always knew I would use that case again someday! Now I have a reason to put it into use again.
I'm still waiting to hear from my cat breeder as to whether or not the little blue tabby Persian is going to become available or not. I'm excited and nervous at the same time haha! I want to know soon so I can go shopping. However, I have also made some decisions that I am very confident in. If This other woman chooses to take this cute little Persian...I am going to pursue a Ragdoll kitten instead. I'll post a link later today as to some information about Ragdolls. They are very similar and there are Ragdoll breeders in Ohio that I can contact about their kittens. So, it's still waiting for right now, I could now as soon as today or by Sunday or by next week whether or not this little blue tabby is mine or not. Here is a link to my breeder's website. If you click on available, the kitten I am waiting on an answer for is the very first blue tabby male. The reason I don't post his picture here directly is because I don't want to seem as though I'm stealing her picture and using it as my own....so I jut decided to post the link.
Today, I came across this website on the internet. How fun would it be to make homemade cat treats for your kitty!? This is something I will do once I have a kitten to feed but her is the link to the cat channel's website for a recipe for tuna treats! There is also a book that has exclusively cat friendly treats!

I've been thinking night and day now about the decision presented to me yesterday: take the potential blue male tabby or wait. Well, I have made a decision as of today while I was at work stewing over it. If he becomes...I'M GOING TO TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!! I'm very very very excited because he's just so very cute and my breeder tells me he is so sweet. I even have a name for him picked out if I get him: Raimei. His CFA name will be Raimei o Yoinokuchi. I will look forward to talking about the meaning behind this name if I'm fortunate enough to bring him home...ooooh I hope I can bring him home! If everything works out, I will bring Raimei home in February. Now, i's time to wait and hear what my breeder has to say about this situation.
In some less exciting news, my breeder's female did not get pregnant. So, if this kitten doesn't become available, I'll be waiting until at least next November for a kitten. It's a long wait ahead if it comes to this...
So today, as of exactly 30 minutes ago....I've been possibly offered a kitten. I spoke with my breeder and she has a male blue tabby persian possibly ready to go at the END OF THIS WEEK! One one hand, he is a beautiful little Persian, very pretty eyes and lovely markings. And on the other hand, he isn't EXACTLY the cat I want either, I'm on her waiting list for a himalayan: blue, seal or flame. However, this little boy is just darling and so lovely. He has a sweet and loving face. Now I don't know what to do for sure...wait for the himmy I'm on the list for and possibly risk the Dam not even getting pregnant which would then push me into as long as November of next year getting getting a kitten. Or, see what happens by the end of this week and see if this little boy is still available. Oh...I have no idea what to do....wait....or not wait.....*bites nails*
One advantage to being a teacher...are the snow days when the school system can't run the buses!! So, that explains why I've had time to shop for pet carriers today and reorganize some things in my closet today. As I reorganized today. I realized that my very much loved Ichizawa Hanpu bag would be just perfect to carry small accessories and treats for anytime I travel. Also, since this is a tough canvas bag and extremely easy to clean it's the perfect bag to carry for cat stuff in case something spills. It's great because this bag has no zippers, clips, fasteners or anything like that so I can get in it quickly and with ease.
After much shopping on eBay and other websites. I found a much better deal on the pet carrier I originally picked out about 2 months ago. I've decided to go ahead and bid on this carrier instead of buying the blue Argo one. This one is made by Sherpa and is a little larger than the Argo. it has both front and side entry and the best part I'm saving 45 dollars buy purchasing this off eBay!!! Can't argue with that! Here is the website, they have lots of fun pet accessories as well as many air line approved carriers: http://www.sherpapet.com/
I am so very excited! No, not because my breeder's cat is pregnant...which isn't confirmed yet haha! But because I have made up my mind most definitely of my kitten's name if I am fortunate enough to get a flame point or cream point male. As previously mentioned, his name will be Sasori but his registered name on his CFA papers will be Sasori no Hinode. I will share the full story behind this name if I bring a little flame point or cream point home some day sooner than later. This still doesn't solve my other color scheme names...I'm still thinking about that a lot and changing my mind a lot.
Gosh, it's rather discouraging to know that there is a kitten in Rochester New York that I could be the loving owner of by the end of next week. I guess it's probably a good thing that I am 8 hours away from Rochester and I'm more forced to wait on my breeder in Akron haha! Well, after some research today I've discovered that I can buy bigger quantities of food and litter than I originally thought possible! That relieves me because now I don't have to worry about the dilemma of changing food right away when he is a kitten. Perhaps he will get a special treat and get to change foods later in life when his little stomach is more tolerable. So anyway, I'm glad that I can stick with the Nutro Max food and the World's best cat litter. I shopped for harnesses and leashes today on eBay. I didn't really like the ones that Petsmart or Petco had online but I did find a harness and matching 4 foot leash that I liked on eBay. Now I'm wondering if tags and a collar would be a good idea for anytime I take this kitty on the road....wow...I really need a kitten for all these things I pick out haha!
I went to Wal-Mart today and scanned their pet department. I was pretty disappointed by what a poor selection they had of pet things. However, I did find an oatmeal shampoo I want for a lot less than it sells for at Petsmart. So, at least I know I can get the shampoo at Wal-Mart. I'm pretty much out of luck for buying anything else I need at Wal-mart. Including food, which makes me a little nervous. I don't really want to have to drive to either Colombus, OH or Charleston, WV every time I need 20 pounds of cat food and I don't want to pay shipping from Petco or Petsmart on it every time I need it either. Guess I'll figure something out when the time comes. I think I'll look into Petco's bottomless bowl program and see if there is any shipping involved in the food since I want to use the food my breeder raises all her cats on. It may come down to me weening him to Iams or Purina One but I hope not.
I've also decided not to buy the cute little red warming puppy mainly because I learned that it is very small....only 7 inches long and 5 inches wide and that's not big at all so I thought it was just a waste of money that I could use to buy something else cute! Haha!
I received my purple kitty blanket today *exciting* Of course I absolutely couldn't resist buying this little colorful dental chew ring. I mean, it was only $2.89 (with shipping) on eBay...now how am I going to be able to resist that! That's all the purchasing I'm going to do for now I think. I'm thrilled though because I got paid today and I now have enough money in my savings for not only my kitty but also I'm building up my 'stuff for kitty' fund. I called my vet today while I was at work and found out that kitty's initial checkup is only going to be $20.00....I know it's a ways off but I want to know all of my expenses up front. Alright, so here is the picture of the cute dental hygiene ring I bought for him today.

This is just tooooooo cute! I fell in love with it and even though it wasn't originally on my list of things I want for my kitten...it is now! It's a warming pillow that's filled with buckwheat so it acts as a calming 'pal' in stressful situations. I thought perhaps I could use this for trips to the vet and the 5 hour car ride kitty is going to have when the day comes that I pick him up!
So I've been thinking a lot over the past month or so about cat names and even though I'm pretty firm on my names, I still find myself changing my mind. And the truly frustrating thing for me is coming up with a registered name. I'm having some trouble coming up with a logical and smooth sounding registered name. So far, I'm still set on Sasori for a flame point. However, now I'm thinking Itachi for a seal point and Manolo for a blue point. Now for the registered names....that's where I'm having trouble. Sasori's registered name so far could end up being Sasori's Red Dawn by Sunrise or some other name incorporating akasuna...which I haven't figured out how I want to incorporate it yet. As for Itachi's registered name or Manolo's registered name.....I just don't know yet, I need to put some more thought into both of those.
Here is the picture of the carrier I want as well. it's from a cool website called petcarriers.com
Many thanks to Sachie for the great idea of sharing the items I've purchased! I've officially gotten my first item for my kitten. You can check out the picture of this fun purple blanket! I'll also post the picture of the carrier I intend to purchase. Even though it's definitely fun to pick things out, I wish I knew if I had a kitten on the way for sure or not. Oh well! It's okay.
So here's 'kitty's first blanket'! It's pretty big even though the picture looks small.
I'm very excited!! My cat breeder has a possibly pregnant mother right now which would mean I could have my kitty as soon as April or May. I hope that everything works out okay. As a measure of wishful thinking I bought my 'kitty's first blanket', I intend on bringing him home in it. Thank you eBay!
I'm going shopping next weekend at Petco as well as ordering my carrier online next week after I get paid. Even if I find out that the mother isn't pregnant.....I'll still have fun shopping for kitty gear for when that kitten does arrive. And as for a name? If I get a flame point his name will be Sasori and if I get a blue, blue lynx, or seal point his name will be Manolo. As you can tell I've been making plans for a while now. It's time for the plans to unfold! Yay!
Wow, I've really been thinking about a couple rooms in my house as 'starter' rooms for my new kitten. i want to make sure either my bathroom or my computer room is 'kitten proofed' before his arrival in what will hopefully be just a few months. I have a gate picked out that I am going to order, but what worries me most is the cleaners and stuff in my bathroom. I think I will feel better if I just put all of those away somewhere. I wouldn't want him to get into anything. I've also picked out a nice hooded litter pan, however I'm wondering where in the world I'm going to put it because it is definitely a space eater. Guess I'll figure that out when the time comes!
